Aguardiente - The spirit of Colombia

There is one liquor in Colombia you have to taste for celebration: Aguardiente. It is the most famous liquor in Colombia and made by sugar and anisse. Depending where you go in Colombia, Aguardiente is offered in many different flavors. For example in the highlands of Colombia it is mixed with coffee. This kind of Aguardiente is called Carajillo. Another flavor is Canalazo. This one is served with cinnamon.

Nowadays you find plenty of Aguardientes in grocery stores. For example Light-Aguardiente or Antioqueño from Antioquia, the department in northwestern Colombia, or Narino from the so called province in the southwest of the country.
