Most probably all of you have heard
about the national strike in Colombia, which took place during a period of
about 2 weeks, and which came with reoccurring manifestations. We would like to
give a brief summary of what happened, is happening, and will happen…
First of all, we are more than happy
to inform you, that the events that took place in the scope of the national
strike, did not or did only slightly
affect your clients’ itineraries. The minor adjustments we had to take for
singular bookings, were communicated to you by your local travel agent immediately.
The current situation in Colombia has completely cooled down. Partially there
are still peaceful manifestations, mostly accompanied by music, but there are
no violent riots expect at all.
Currently the Conversaciones
Nacionales (national dialogue) are ongoing. Depending on the daily focus,
amongst its attendees are president Iván Duque, various business men and
merchants, mayors and other governors, as well as the strike commitee and
student associations. The aim of this dialogue is to resolve the following
topics:
* General safety of all Colombians, the infrastructure and workingplaces
* Urgent needs of municipalities
* Transparency and fight against corruption
The National Conversations exercise will last until March 15, 2020. This corresponds to a prudential period of time, which considers elements such as the beginning of the legislative period, and which means a real possibility of materializing solutions to the problems.
