We created a couple of new excursions to give your clients the chance to explore Barichara´s surroundings and experience authentic encounters - an excursion to a traditional farmhouse and a meeting with one of the few descendants of the Guane indians, a coffee tour in a very familiar atmosphere and a visit of a traditional basketry workshop.
During these authentic experiences, the participants get in direct touch with the locals and immerse themselves into the regional customs, flavours, scents and traditions.

Half day tour Lubigara - Get a glimpse into the traditional rural life and crafts
Start at Finca San Pedro about 15 minutes away from Barichara. Walking tour in the region: We will start by visiting a traditional farmhouse, learning about and producing typical arepas of the Santander region in traditional clay pans. Afterwards, we visit one of the last descendants of the Guane, who still manufactures clay pans in a traditional way. After that, we get the chance to play the game "bolo criollo" (which is a sort of bowling), in a "Tienda" - a village house that is at the same time a grocery store, a social meeting place and venue for small events. We will end our tour by returning to the Finca San Pedro, where we can enjoy a nice picnic. Return to Barichara.

Half day tour Café Alfanía - Coffee tour at an organic coffee farm in familiar atmosphere
Café Alfanía is a mesmerizing, family-run coffee finca in the neighbourhood Caucho, only about 20 min by TucTuc from Barichara. About 7 years ago its owner, without much knowledge about the cultivation of coffee, started cultivating and producing coffee and nowadays is amongst the best organic coffees in the country.
Half day tour Cestería Don Nico - Visit of a traditonal basketry workshop
Learn about the traditional way to weave baskets, lampshades, etc. The craftswomen Lala invites the visitors into her little workshop, which is located right next to her own house, and teaches them how to weave different products with wicker. She learned this craft from her grandfather Nico and still sticks to his traditional techniques. The visitors get the chance to prove their weaving-skills.
Note: The coffeetour and the basketry workshop are located in the same neighbourhood and can therefore easily be combined to a full day tour.

Café Alfanía is a mesmerizing, family-run coffee finca in the neighbourhood Caucho, only about 20 min by TucTuc from Barichara. About 7 years ago its owner, without much knowledge about the cultivation of coffee, started cultivating and producing coffee and nowadays is amongst the best organic coffees in the country.
On this very personalized coffee tour, run by the family members themselves, the visitors learn everything about the organic cultivation of coffee. First, the clients walk through the plantations, where big Caracoli trees provide shade every here and there, before trying some juice and local delicacies as well as the freshly brewed coffe in the main house. Afterwards we continue the coffee tour.
If the tour takes place in the afternoon, it is possible to have a bonfire for the group before returning to Barichara.
