INFORMATION ABOUT YELLOW FEVER VACCINATION

Every now and then the question arises whether and when your customers need a yellow fever vaccination. We would like to clarify this matter:

The Ministry of Health in Colombia considers the following areas as yellow fever risk areas:

Departamentos:

- Amazonas, Caquetá, Casanare, Cesar, Guainía, Guaviare, Guajira, Meta, Putumayo, Vaupés and Vichada.

Regions:

- Santa Marta, Ciénaga y Aracataca (Magdalena).
- Convención, El Carmen, El Tarra, Teorama, Sardinata, Tibú, El Zulia, Hacarí y San Calixto (Norte de Santander).
- Río Sucio, Carmen del Darién, Juradó, Nuquí y Unguía (Chocó).
- Dabeiba, Mutatá, Turbo y Yondó (Antioquia)
There have been no specific cases in recent years, the last known case was in Amazonas (Vaupés) in 2018.

primarily relevant for our clients are the regions near Santa Marta and Tayrona, Nuquí and Amazonas.

For none of the regions the vaccination is mandatory, only recommended. Therefore, in the end, it is up to the client to decide whether he wants to be vaccinated or not. The majority of our clientes visit at least the Tayrona and Pacific region without vaccination.

There are a few exceptions that make proof of vaccination mandatory upon entry to Colombia:
If clients are entering from countries with a high risk of yellow fever, or have been to one of these countries recently before their trip to Colombia. Detailed information can be found in the WHO list - all countries with a "Yes" in column 2 or 3 are considered countries with a high risk of yellow fever.
