CURRENT SITUATION COLOMBIA, JUNE 2021

In many countries, corona cases are slowly declining and normal life is gradually returning. This trend is also evident in Colombia, so daily life as well as tourism are on their way back to new normal.

To keep you and your clients in the loop about the current travel situation to and within Colombia, please find all up-to-date information in the following:

1. NATIONAL STRIKE

As if Corona wasn't enough for all of us worldwide, Colombia is currently experiencing the Paro Nacional (National Strike). In the course of this strike, there are local demonstrations and roadblocks. So far, the major cities such as Bogotá, Cali and Medellín have been the most affected, but such events and manifestations are also taking place in countless other towns and villages. In some cases, it came to violent confrontations between police and demonstrators, which further stirred up the resentment of both sides.
Attempts to end the strike to the mutual satisfaction of both sides through dialogue between the government and the strike committee have failed so far. Although the government has already announced some reforms - particularly regarding the police structures - various demands of the strike committee have not been implemented, which is why the committee abandoned the table just a few days ago.

We are confident that new negotiations will take place soon and that - with the help of mediators - they will be concluded successfully. Travelling through the country is barely affected by the strike, only in the cities certain activities may not be possible.

2. CORONA

Entry requirements:
2 of the 3 previous entry requirements are lifted. Since June 1st, 2021, a negative PCR test does not have to be presented upon entry, nor do travelers have to register with the CoronoApp. Only the online registration at Check-Mig, on the homepage of the Colombian migration office, remains mandatory!

Attention: Although the country of Colombia no longer requires a negative PCR test, the airlines still do!
