The Salt Cathedral in Zipaquirá is and remains one of the most popular sights near Bogotá. For all clients who prefer excursions in a group, or simply wish to reduce costs a little, we are happy to offer a shared group tour to Zipaquirá.
In the following the description and details of the tour:
One of the marvels of Colombia, the Salt Cathedral in Zipaquirá is not only a historic monument and cultural heritage site, but also one of the most unique structures in the world, as it was formed entirely in salt. Originally it was simply a small chapel La Catedral de Sal, built by mine workers 180 meters underground.
The shared group tour starts from the following meeting points:
La Candelaria and at Parque de la 93.
The driver and the guide handle the logistics of the tour, provide us with valuable information (in Spanish) and clarify any questions we may have during the tour. During the ride, a video (in English) provides further information. Upon arival in Zipaquira, we have about 20 min to grab something to eat and take a short walk around the town. We have the opportunity to see the Plaza de la Independencia and the main square with its beautiful church. We continue our ride to the Salt Cathedral, where the guide accompanies us to the entrance of the mine and indicates the time for our return. From here we explore the cathedral on our own, using an audio guide or joining a guided group tour in Spanish (extra charge).
If there is still time left at the end of the tour we will the opportunity to visit the nearby stores (transportation not included).
