COLORFUL EXPERIENCE AT CARNAVAL DE BARRANQUILLA

In our last newsletter we informed about the most important fairs and festivals of Colombia. 

One of them the famous Carnaval de Barranquilla, which takes place this month, between February 18 to 21. It is certainly one of the most spectacular carnivals in South America, with colorful parades that represent the mestizo population and the fusion of cultures and ethnicities. It has been declared an UNESCO heritage, and mezmerizes with its amazing musical mix of rhythms like Cumbia, Porros, Fandango and Mapalé.

Barranquilla is located at the Caribbean Coast of Colombia, between Cartagena and Santa Marta, at the outfall of the Magdalena River. Your clients' visit to Barranquilla can be combined with trips along the coastal highway “Troncal del Caribe” which connects more than 500km, from the department of Antioquia to La Guajira desert.

FARBENFROHES ERLEBNIS BEIM CARNAVAL DE BARRANQUILLA

In unserem letzten Newsletter haben wir über die wichtigsten Messen und Feste in Kolumbien berichtet. 

Eines davon ist der berühmte Carnaval de Barranquilla, der diesen Monat, vom 18. bis 21. Februar, stattfindet. Es ist sicherlich einer der spektakulärsten Karnevals in Südamerika, mit farbenfrohen Umzügen, die die Mestizenbevölkerung und die Verschmelzung von Kulturen und Ethnien repräsentieren. Der Karneval wurde von der UNESCO zum Weltkulturerbe erklärt und besticht durch seinen erstaunlichen musikalischen Mix aus Rhythmen wie Cumbia, Porros, Fandango und Mapalé.

Barranquilla liegt an der Karibikküste Kolumbiens, zwischen Cartagena und Santa Marta, an der Mündung des Flusses Magdalena. Der Besuch euer Kunden in Barranquilla kann mit Ausflügen entlang der Küstenstraße "Troncal del Caribe" kombiniert werden, die über 500 km vom Departement Antioquia bis zur Wüste La Guajira führt.

MAL WAS ANDERES IN DER KAFFEEZONE

Die Kaffeeregion Kolumbiens ist viel mehr als nur ihre berühmtesten Highlights wie Salento oder das Cocora-Tal. Wenn ihr eure Kunden gerne auf Reise etwas abseits der üblichen Touristenpfade schicken möchtet, haben wir die folgenden Attraktionen für euch:

Kakaotour in familiengeführter Finca

...in einer Finca nahe Armenias lernen wir die verschiedene einheimische und eingeführte Kakaosorten kennen und der Besitzer der Finca teilt mit uns sein fundiertes Wissen über den Anbau, die Geschichte und Kultur des Kakaos, sowie einige Anekdoten über das Leben auf dem Lande. Während der Tour probieren wir beim Durchlaufen der Felder die ein oder andere Kakaofrucht und sehen wie man die Hybride für die neuen Setzlinge herstellt. Schließlich erreichen wir das Haupthaus, wo wir den Fermentationsprozess, das Trocknen und Mahlen auf traditionelle Art erleben. 

Nachdem wir die reichhaltige, selbstgemachte Schokolade probiert haben, kehren wir zu unserer Unterkunft zurück oder fahren weiter zu unserer nächsten Aktivität.

Kultur Hautnah - Besuch Typischer Dörfer

...in den für diese Region traditionellen Fortbewegungsmitteln, den Willy-Jeeps oder Chivas, geht es zu bezaubernden, typischen Kaffee-Dörfern des Departamentos Quindío: wir besuchen Génova, Pijao, Córdoba und Rio Verde. Wir halten in jedem der Dörfer an, um uns umzusehen, und die lokale Kultur kennen zu lernen. Ein typisches Mittagessen und eine Kaffeedegustation dürfen dabei natürlich nicht fehlen.

La Carbonera 

...ist eine wunderschöne Landschaft in der zentralen Bergkette der Anden Kolumbiens, die 23 Kilometer vom Dorf Salento in Quindío entfernt auf dem Weg nach Toche liegt. Hier befindet sich ein Reservat des kolumbianischen Nationalbaums, der Wachspalme, die hier zu Tausenden bestaunt werden kann. Diese spektakuläre Berglandschaft beheimatet endemische Vögel sowie verschiedene Säugetiere und ist ausschließlich über unbefestigte Straßen erreichbar, weshalb sich hier eine einzigartige Naturlandschaft fernab vom Massentourismus bietet.

Das Bergdorf Salamina

...gilt als historisches und kulturelles Erbe Kolumbiens und liegt 2 Stunden nördlich der Stadt Manizales im Department Caldas. Dieses koloniale Dorf ist eine Oase der Architektur, Geschichte und Kultur und ist geprägt durch eine spektakuläre Landschaft aus Schluchten und Bergen in verschiedenen Grüntönen, ein sehr angenehmes Klima und charmante Menschen, die sich freuen, Touristen zu empfangen.

OFF THE BEATEN TRACK IN THE COFFEE REGION

Colombia's coffee region is so much more than only its most famous highlights like Salento or the Cocora Valley. If you want your clients to explore the region a bit off the beaten track, we have the following ideas for you:

Cacao tour on a family run finca

...on a finca near Armenia we visit the plantation of different native and non-native varieties of cocoa. The owner of the Hacienda shares his profound knowledge of the cultivation, history and culture of cacao. During the tour through we taste various cacao fruits, an see how the grafts for no new seedlings are made. Finally we arrive at the main house where we experience the fermentation-, drying- and artisanal grinding-process. After tasting a delicious, selfmade hot chocolate, we return to our accommodation or continue to our next activity.

La Carbonera

...a beautiful landscape in the central mountain range of the Andes of Colombia, 23 kilometres from the village of Salento in Quindío on the road to Toche. It’s a reserve of the Colombian national tree, the wax palm, which can be admired here by the thousands. This spectacular mountain landscape is home to endemic birds as well as various mammals and can only be reached by dirt roads, which is why it offers a unique natural landscape far away from mass tourism.

Culture up close - Visit of typical villages

...in the traditional vehicles of this region, the Willy-Jeeps or Chivas, we explore charming, typical coffee villages of the departmento of Quindío: we visit Génova, Pijao, Córdoba and Rio Verde. We stop in each of the villages to have a look around and learn about the local culture. A typical lunch and a coffee tasting are an integral part of the tour.

The mountain village of Salamina

...considered a historical and cultural heritage of Colombia and lies 2 hours north of the city of Manizales in the department of Caldas. This colonial village is an oasis of architecture, history and culture and offers a spectacular landscape of gorges and mountains in different shades of green, a very pleasant climate and charming people who are happy to welcome tourists.
