Christmas-greeting from Neptuno

We wish you all Merry Christmas and a happy new year! Hopefully the year 2018 will be as good as 2017!

This year for Christmas we made a few donations to some social projects and nonprofit foundations. We are actively supporting those five Project's:

·                „Hogar de Paz“ –  Project for school kids of low income families in marginal areas of Bogota 

·                „Amigos del Abuelo“ – Retirement home for homeless people 

·                „Fundacion Bosconia“ – Education for homeless children 

·                „Niños de los Andes“ – Is helping homeless children to reintegrate in their families and society

·                „Proyecto Friese“ – The Project runs an organic garden in the Old City in Bogotá. It employs mentally handicapped people and represents a place of peace for the community.

Anstatt Weihnachtsgeschenke zu verteilen haben wir uns in diesem Jahr wieder dazu entschlossen die folgenden sozialen Stiftungen in Bogota wohltätig zu unterstützen:

„Hogar de Paz“ – Nachmittagsbetreuung für Schulkinder aus einkommensschwachen Haushalten 

„Amigos del Abuelo“ – Seniorenheim für ehemals obdachlose Bewohner 

„Fundación Bosconia“ – Hat die schulische Ausbildung und künstlerische Entfaltung früherer Straßenkinder durch musikalische Schulung zum Ziel

„Niños de los Andes“ – Hilfe für Strassenkinder, um die erneute Integration in die Familien und die Gesellschaft zu ermöglichen

„Proyecto Friese“ -  Das Projekt betreibt einen Garten in der Altstadt, indem organisch angebaut wird. Das Gartenprojekt beschäftigt geistig behinderte Menschen und stellt ein Ort Ruhe und Zusammenkunft für die Gemeinschaft dar.

Airline News

Air Canada announced new service to Colombia, through the offering of a Toronto – Cartagena nonstop flight, every Monday. Operating on a seasonal basis from 18th of December 2017  to 09th of April 2018, the airline will operate Airbus A319 aircraft once a week.

Since 28th of March 2017 KLM offers a regular new flight to Bogotá and Cartagena as a triangular flight with the Boeing Dreamliner four times a week. The flight departs in Amsterdam, lands in Bogotá and Cartagena and than returns to Amsterdam.

Latam will have a new direct flight between Medellin and Lima. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The new route starts 26th of February 2018.

Airline-Neuigkeiten

Hier noch ein paar Neuigkeiten zu neuen Flugverbindung nach Kolumbien und Lateinamerika.

Air Canada wird ab dem 18.12.2017 bis zum 09.04.2018 einen hochsaisonbedingten Direktflug zwischen Toronto und Cartagena haben, immer montags.

KLM bedient seit dem 25.03.2017 immer vier mal pro Woche die Verbindung zwischen Amsterdam und Kolumbien. Amsterdam – Bogota – Cartagena – Amsterdam. Die Verbindung ist sehr interessant weil ja die meisten unserer gemeinsamen Kunden ihre letzten Tage ihrer Reise in Cartagena ausklingen lassen und somit direkt nach Europa fliegen können.

Ab dem 26. Februar 2018 wird es immer montags, mittwochs und freitags einen Flug von Latam zwischen Medellin und Lima geben.

Wiedereröffnung des Archäologischen Parks von Tierradentro

Starke Regenfälle haben vor wenigen Wochen im „Archäologischen Park von Tierradentro“ Schäden an den Zugangswegen hinterlassen (wir hatten davon im letzten Newsletter berichtet). Der Park ist seit wenigen Tagen wieder problemlos zugänglich und wir können euch ab sofort wieder die komplette touristische Operation garantieren in einem der wichtigsten archäologischen Ausgrabungsorte Kolumbiens.

Reopening of the Archeological park of Tierradentro

Due to damages on the paths and on tombs caused by strong rainfalls, the “Archeological Park of Tierradentro” was closed the last weeks (we mentioned that in our last newsletter). The reopening took place a few days ago and we are able to provide a normal touristic operation in one of the most important archeological sites of Colombia.

Neptuno´s Tourcert-sustainability -certification

After publishing that we had started the certification process with the internationally renowned sustainability seal ‘TourCert’ in March 2017, we can finally announce that we have passed the external examination!

In accordance with the national criteria stipulated by Colombian law, we now comply with the rules and guidelines of international sustainability standards, which are indispensable for the enforcement of sustainable tourism. We started our journey towards becoming a sustainable business in 2014 when we initially started implementing first measures towards environmentally friendly policies.

‘TourCert’ is mainly focused on reviewing feedback from our partners with whom we work with on a daily basis. An area of major importance was the distribution of standardized, partly anonymous online questionnaires in order to get feedback not only from Neptuno co-workers, but also from our guides, transport partners, partner agencies and providers all over Colombia. The results of the questionnaires have been carefully examined leading to a variety of internal discussions and resolutions.

We are convinced that tourism enterprises which commit themselves to national and international sustainability standards will have numerous advantages operating successfully in the future. At this time we would like to invite fellow tourism enterprises to join us in becoming officially certified in sustainability and then to promote these ideals in their own companies.
