Doing good, acquiring new skills and at the same time getting to know an
almost untouched region and culture - does this sound like an interesting way
to explore the Pacific coast of Chocó?
We offer your clients the opportunity to participate in the development
of a local cultural centre during a 7-day stay in Arusi, a small town south of
Nuqui. During this week, by participating in workshops, clients not only gain
valuable knowledge about bio-construction with local materials, agroecology or
local handicrafts, but also, by interacting and coworking with the locals, deep
insights into their culture and lifestyle.
The Centro de Cultura Pacifica
(CCP) will be a creative place for conventions, workshops and knowledge
transfers between visitors and locals, with the aim of fortifying social
structures, preserving cultural heritage and local knowledge, as well as
providing a safe source of income for the community.
The CCP project is initiated by Organizmo, an organization located near
Bogota, dedicated to the education about various techniques of bio-construction
and community work. As experts in this field, Organizmo has already
successfully carried out several projects, similar to the current one in Chocó,
which proved to have a lasting effect on the local communities.
The organizers (Organizmo, Museum of Local Knowledge in Coquí, CasaMúcura) thought of the following launch action:
A one-week stay in Arusi, from July 4th to 10th,
during which the participants will be able to attend workshops on the
above-mentioned topics and participate in the construction of the centre, as
well as explore the surroundings on various excursions - on foot, by boat, by canoe.
Participation in the workshops and excursions is, of course, not
compulsory, so visitors can freely design their daily program and determine their
extent of involvement.
As you might imagine, the charm of this product is not the prospect of
luxury in the traditional sense, but the discovery of a unique region coupled
with social commitment plus leaving behind a functioning project that allows
the locals to preserve their cultures and traditions, as well as a secure
income.
