Unfortunately we do still hear quite often that customers decide against spending their vacation in Colombia due to the conditions in Venezuela. Therefore we would like to give you a short summary of the current situation and by that hopefully a few points that you can make to the clients:
Despite the precarious humanitarian situation and the political unrest in Venezuela, in Colombia the events in the neighboring country are still hardly noticeable. While it is not recommended to travel to Venezuela, in Colombia everything is running its normal course and daily life as well as tourist itineraries are not affected by the conflicts in the neighboring country. Only in the border region to Venezuela, which is however located far away from the popular tourist regions of Colombia, the situation becomes noticeable and we therefore advise against a visit.
Also from a political and social point of view, the situation is highly interesting for travellers: since the beginning of the humanitarian crisis, Colombia has offered many Venezuelans temporary protection and stability - a privilege that Colombian citizens were offered in Venezuela in past times of violence. Due to this common history, today, the majority of the Colombian population is open-minded and helpful towards Venezuelans and supports their neighbours as good as they can. The reception of the Venezuelan asylum seekers does not influence the tourist stay of our customers in any way.
