NATURALLY MAGICAL - TOUR THROUGH META

Located in the southeast of Bogotá lies the Meta region, with its capital Villavicencio as the gateway to breath-taking landscapes. Meta consists of about 80% plains, but as a contrast, Meta also features mountain peaks, higher than 4,000 m.
The region is therefore brimming with natural beauty and impressive local flora and fauna. For this reason, we would like to introduce our magical tour of Meta, which can be carried out in either 3 or 4 days.

In the following you find the detailed program description of Naturally Magical* in 4 days/3 nights.
*If carried out in 3 days/2 nights, day 3 of the following description does not apply

For further information please contact your local travel agent as usual.

NATURALLY MAGICAL - 4 D/3 N

Day 1:  Villavicencio - Lejanías - Ecological farm"Aula Viva" (-/L/D)

Early in the morning we leave from Villavicencio directly to the municipality of Lejanías. Lejanías is called the “agricultural pantry” and “wealth capital” of the state of Meta. It is the entrance to the “Sierra de La Macarena” in the north, a municipality with large protected areas and of ecological importance. Its use of sustainable agricultural activities, wide range of water sources and cultural events make it an attractive destination. When we arrive at Lejanías, we take a short city tour and learn more about the history of the municipality. Afterwards, we will go to the area of “Angosturas” and have a tour to learn about the local farming dynamics. Followed by a tour of the “Aula Viva” farm to learn about its sustainable production processes and the essence of an alternative lifestyle in the countryside based on the transformation of products such as coffee and oranges, as well as the use of renewable energy. After lunch we go in 4x4 trucks, through 12.5 kilometers of dirt road. Our final destination for the day is the farm El Diamante in Las Maravillas de Güejar. Accommodation and sunset reflection. After dinner we can enjoy a bonfire before retiring to our cabins.

Day 2: Lejanías (natural pools of the Güejar) (B/L/D)

After breakfast, we go on a tour with a local guide or expert to the 5 wonders of Güejar. We visit the waterfall of “Caño Lajón”, whose waterfall reaches 10 meters, in a setting that mixes the rocks and vegetation in the middle of the river in a singular way. We finalize by visiting the so called “Pozo de Dios” (natural well), which is ideal for a refreshing bath, as well as the “Natural Toboggan”, another place with similar characteristics. We continue for about 500 meters along the same path to meet the Natural Jacuzzis of the Güejar River. A scenario where one can reflect on the splendor of nature and where you can enjoy natural hydromassages in its multiple waterfalls, according to the level of adrenaline desired by the tourist. The culmination of our tour is a visit to “Caño Jordán” with a spectacular view while contemplating a torrential waterfall with crystal clear waters. Return to the farm through trails surrounded by nature. After lunch, we have the afternoon free to rest.

Day 3:   Lejanías - Mesetas - Charco Azul /Cañón del Sansa / Historical Site (B/L/D)

Today we go to the municipality of Mesetas, which is located 63 kilometers from the municipality of Lejanías. The tourist attraction “Charco Azul” is located 17 kilometers from the municipality of Mesetas, where you will find a beautiful waterfall, surrounded by a small white sand beach and walls with rock formations. Approximately a one-hour tour, in a 4x4 vehicle, followed by a medium level hike of approximately 20 minutes. During this hike, we can enjoy a setting of unforgettable nature until we reach “Charco Azul”. We continue our hike for approximately fifty (50) minutes from “Charco Azul” up the mountain. Along the trail, we find the Cueva del Tigre (Tiger Cave), the Cascada Milagrosa (Miracle Waterfall) and the Cascada Tobogán (Waterfall Slide), natural settings in the middle of the jungle until we reach an old camp site of the other FARC, to do an exercise of historical remembrance. We return to “Charco Azul” where we have lunch and time to take a refreshing bath and rest. This tourist establishment is operated by ex-combatants of the FARC who decided to change weapons for the development of tourist activities. From their experience, they can demonstrate the historical context of this attractive "Peace Camp". Afterwards, we walk back to the vehicle and return to the town of Mesetas and from there to Lejanías. Dinner and overnight accommodations. Optional: From “Charco Azul”, about 25 minutes hiking up a mountain slope, you will reach the Sansa Canyon. There, you can see cliffs and rock formations belonging to the “escudo guayanés” (Guiana shield). In order to partake in this portion of the tour, it is recommended that the visitor be in good physical condition. High difficulty level.

Day 4:  San Juan de Arama (Rafting Cañón del Río Güejar) –  Villavicencio (B/L/-)

San Juan de Arama is one of the oldest municipalities in Meta. This municipality is recognized besides other things by the Güejar River Canyon. Early in the morning we leave to “Mesetas”, the meeting point where the rafting tour starts for the Güejar River Canyon. We receive the equipment and instructions and begin our journey through one of the most representative iconic routes of the canyon. Here you can see waterfalls and rock formations within the millennial canyon. This activity has an estimated duration of 7 hours (4 to 5 hours navigating the river) and is suitable for beginners since we are in calm waters. After the tour we have a late lunch at the reserve before returning to the city of Villavicencio. Arrival in Villavicencio in the afternoon. Or we can add a night in Villavicencio (not included) or take the last flight this day back to Bogotá.
