New player, hence more competition in the skies of Colombia

With the promise of a true low cost carrier with the best fares for domestic flights in Colombia, the new airline VivaColombia will launch its operation in May 2012. The first scheduled flights to operate are Medellin to Bogota, Cali, Barranquilla, Cartagena and Bucaramanga – it is expected that the route network will be expanded gradually. Among the investors of VivaColombia is the well-known Irish low cost carrier Ryan Air.

In addition to Avianca, Copa Colombia, Colombia Lan (formerly Aires), Satena, Easyfly, Ada, and Aexpa , VivaColombia will be the new competitor in the skies of Colombia, responding the increasing demand of domestic flights.
