After signing the peace contract between government and the FARC-rebels and the beginning of
the implementation of the peace process, the president Juan Manuel Santos and
the ELN (Ejército de Liberacion Nacional) have started peace talks in
Quito/Ecuador. The ELN is the country's
largest guerrilla movement after the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia
(FARC). Only the release of ELN-hostage Odin Sanchez, a former congressman, on 2nd of February
cleared the path to the next round of dialogue. Yesterday (07th of
February 2017) the two sides started the peace
talks that include an agenda of 6 points of negotiation from disarming the
guerrilla group to political participation). We will keep you informed about
actual events.
