Tayrona National Park is located in the east of Santa Marta along the colombian Carribean coast. The park covers an area of aproximately 15.000 hectare or 3,700 acres and a distance of 35 kilometer or 22 miles. The national park was founded in 1969 and is named after the natives who used to live in this area before the white men showed up in the 16th century. Today a few relics and the village of Pueblito inside the national park are witnessing the prehistory of this place.
