Visiting the “Amigos del Abuelo”

This week Lena and Christopher visited one of our favourite foundations in Bogotá. Since more than 3 years we have been supporting the “Amigos del Abuelo”, “Granfather´s Friends”. They focus on the extremely vulnerable population of homeless elderly people. The foundation runs an old people’s home, which is being financed by donations. They started operating in 1999 and since then have provided the complete primary health care and alimentation for all of their residents. They take care of approximately 27 men and women, who had mostly been living on the streets of Bogotá under extremely harsh circumstances and without any help of relatives. The property of the foundation is located close to the historical center Candelaria. A few months ago they were able to buy a bigger property next to their actual location. The next step is to reconstruct the facilities. We are happy to see the advances the Amigos del Abuelo are making.
