In the next newsletters we plan to present some museums in
Bogota that are not so well-known like the famous Gold Museum. Nevertheless
they are worth a visit. We
start with the “Museo de Trajes” that is just 1 block away from the “Plaza
Bolivar”. The “Museum of traditional
costumes” in the historic center of Bogotá is a meeting point around the topic
of Colombian traditional costumes.
It invites therefore to a dialogue between
past, present and future. By
passing through the different rooms of the museum you go through parts of the
Colombian history – traditional costumes from pre-Colombian times, clothing of
the farmers around 1950 and traditional costumes of still existent indigenous
groups. Furthermore you learn about the old weaving process by looking
and understanding the old machines.
